October 2 Chapel

“Every morning my daughters used to come and wake me up in bed and as much as I love them, I do not like their morning breath!”

When Jesus was crucified and was in the tomb for three days the disciples didn’t know what to do now that Jesus was gone, they were afraid people wouldn’t like them anymore, they were afraid of the Jews, so they hid in a house. Then three days later Jesus came back and appeared to them.

“Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” – John 20:22

Think about where Jesus was for a minute, he was in the tomb, dead for 3 days. Can you imagine THAT morning breath?!

Our sermon took a turn with Pastor Matty saying he had something to give away. Pulling out a $5 bill everyone was raising hands to answer whatever question he asked in an effort to earn it! “Why do you want this money?”, he asked. Answers varied from, “I can buy stuff!” to “It’s money!”

Pastor Matty then took the bill and rubbed it in his armpit, stepped on it with his yucky shoes, and then crinkled it up. “Who still wants it?” he asked. Hands shot up, everyone still wanted the money, why he asked, the resounding answer is because it is still money and it hasn’t lost it’s value.

Pastor Matty wrapped up his message connecting how God sees us as valuable even if we are a little bit dirty or aren’t in pristine shape, similar to the $5. He loves us and wants to give His Holy Spirit to us.
