Oct. 16 Chapel: Trust

This week Pastor Naomi spoke about trust, what does it mean and why can we trust God?

What is trust? “Hanging out with good people and knowing that we can trust them to do the right thing and not be a bad influence.” Trust; the confidence and firm belief in the reliability, truth, or ability of someone or something.

We started Chapel off with a game called, “Who do you trust?” A student had to pick someone else they trusted to answer a question. The trust in the students spanned across all grades for one another to answer questions for them. They answered questions such as, “Who is Isaac’s father?, What were two of the plagues that God sent to convince Pharaoh to let His people go?, What is the name of the boy who leads all the pups in Paw Patrol?, Who was swallowed by a giant fish?, What was the giant’s name that David defeated?, and What’s the name of the Sesame Street character who lives in the garbage can?”

After our game, we changed the topic to: “How do we know we can trust God?” Answers from the students were along the lines of: “Because He loves us; because He answers my prayers; because He never lies.”

How can we learn to trust God? “By praying, reading our Bibles, worshipping, going to church etc.”

Chapel finished with a verse from Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”
